For anyone unfamiliar with Wipeout or the upcoming PSN exclusive title Wipeout HD here’s a bit of a rundown on what to expect.  It’s essentially a futuristic racer (think F-Zero from back in the day) that has you fly down tracks at supersonic speeds while blasting opponents away with high-tech weapons.  Wipeout is recognized today by its techno/trance soundtrack, futuristic visual style and incredible sense of speed.

Wipeout HD, as the name implies, brings full blown 1080p resolution and 60 fps (don’t know what that means? Check the Gamers Glossary!) to the franchise for the first time.  Simply put, the game is gorgeous.  The games visuals are actually so amazing that they had to delay the release of the game due to epilepsy concerns!  Yes, it’s true.  The game was running so fast, with so many colours and in such high resolution that it had to be toned down a bit in order for it to be safe for release to the general public.  Wow.  Am I the only one that wishes the epilepsy version could be released as well??  For a great video comparison to see how the original version was changed so it could pass the tests click here.
