About
Console Me started as a site for gamers who are looking for a fresh perspective on games from the “pen” of a gamer who isn’t writing just to pay the bills. Not all of us work in the game industry or play video games knowing we have to make a review deadline. We play games because they entertain us and we enjoy them for what they are.
At Console Me you can expect to find ramblings about the state of the industry, the personalities that make it interesting and commentary on major events that have an impact on not only gamers, but the industry itself. I will share my thoughts on gaming experiences that all gamers face and may even provide game “reviews”. I say “reviews” because I refuse to review games in the manner that the gaming community has become accustomed to. Games are about how much enjoyment you derive from them, and whether or not you would recommend them to a friend, not simply on the “score” they earn. Instead, my “reviews” will be limited to three outcomes: Buy it. Rent it. Forget it. Plain and simple, those are the answers a gamer wants to know. Of course, my reviews are subjective so you may not always agree with my tastes. That’s completely fine and I’m always eager to hear other gamers’ perspectives.
Being a gamer in today’s rapidly growing industry is not as cut and dry as it used to be a decade ago. Let’s face it, with 1000’s of games being released on a yearly basis across several platforms, separating the trash from the treasure can often seem like an impossible task. Hopefully this site will serve as a resource to assist in making more informed decisions and sort through the marketing assault that we must endure on a daily basis.
So sit back, relax, and know that my opinions have not been influenced by corporate marketing dollars or hidden agendas. My writing is, in essence, what I actually believe.
